Anyone who lives in the DC area knows that local Deer are either hyped up on PCP or the modern day equivalent of kamikazis. They routinely run out in the street towards your car/motorcycle and have been known to leisurely stroll into people's houses/shops/restaurants . But yesterday in DC Bambi decided to go for extra credit. A dumb ass deer leaped into the Lion enclosure at the national zoo, got slapped around by a couple of lions, and was eventually put down. The fucked up thing is that the zoo keepers didnt let the Lions finish him off and get some fresh venison. You cant fault the Lions for doing their thing, they should've at least let them have their fun. Story and video linky: http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/news/offbeat/deer-dies-after-leap-into-lion-exhibit-110909And yeah, after a few close calls in the car and on the bike I have NO love for Bambi.

Rhode Island league investigates game-ending brawlAssociated Press PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - League officials in Rhode Island are investigating a fight between members of two girls' high school soccer teams who threw punches, pulled hair and sparked a brawl in the bleachers. The fight captured on video by WPRI-TV broke out Sunday with about a minute left in a match between Woonsocket and Tolman high schools. Woonsocket was leading 5-0 when two players collided, setting off the fray. Fans fought in the bleachers during an awards ceremony. Woonsocket coach Kathleen Fagnant says she doesn't know how the fight started but says she isn't going to "take the fall for that." Rough play has already made a video sensation of New Mexico player Elizabeth Lambert. If the embed doesn't work...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg pxd40TvjM

MBTA Orange Line operator Charice Lewis saw the passengers at North Station flailing their arms. At about the same time, she heard a train inspector on her onboard radio telling her to pull the emergency brake to avoid hitting a woman who had fallen on the track. Lewis didn’t have time to think. She just did it. ( Read more... )

Took me a couple of days, but I finally broke the 11K mark. GOD, so that's what giving birth feels like. I want to tie my tubes! Still behind about 3,900 words. That's roughly 15 or so pages double-spaced. God, I think I have twins...

"Congrats on the role of a lifetime, Gabourey Sidibe. Self-esteem is a beautiful thing. But we should celebrate your performance, not your size. Obesity is a national epidemic."
So putting aside the PC platitudes, the facts tell a different story. Yes, Sidibe is a promising performer, one who’s already generating Oscar buzz. So if we just stick to her acting, kudos. But if we’re talking about her size—which has become part of the conversation—are people delusional? A five-foot-something woman tipping the scales at over 300 pounds is not something to celebrate. That’s SUPER fat, and no matter how passionately you argue the opposite, medical science will pull the plug on that position: Your health will suffer from carrying such an extreme amount of weight. Obesity can lead to a host of dangerous health issues including high blood pressure, diabetes, respiratory problems and sleep apnea—and that’s just the short list. When you’re extremely overweight, even walking becomes a struggle. *yawn* someone wake me up when the world/media starts overly criticizing the real life eric cartman jonah hill. HOW DARE she walk around being happy in her own skin while weighing more than 110lbs!!!! note2self: avoid any and all reviews discussing the movie, as well as dumbass trending topics on twitter. we all know a fatty's place on the big screen is as somebody's sidekick, or a comic relief!! just click here if you wanna read of this trash. and just so i'm not confused with someone who regularly frequents that asshattery of a website, the link was from this article.mood: discontent |

I don't want to post a word count just yet. I have a couple of hours of prime wakey time to write and I will spend it trying to get caught up. The characters are all there. The place is sound and I have removed the ball and chain of research from my process for now. But they stare at me, these beings, these people I have cast from word and imagination. They stand and sit around the bar, lookin at me, cigarette smoke curling around them, blinking, saying nothing. They are waiting for me to tell them what to do next, where to go, what to say. I do not actually know these people, so I cannot put the words in their mouths, so I stare back at them. Being in a staring contest with people who don't actually have to blink is frustrating. I know I'll lose, but I keep staring back at them. Talk to me, Joonie's. Talk to me.

So, I've been watching SoapNET for hours to catch up on this week's General Hospital. Michael whacked Claudia. WITH AN AX. That was Wednesday's episode and the rest of the week's shows have been RIVETING. I have never said that about GH before. NEVER. And OH SH!T, this is when Jonathan Jackson shows back up as LUCKY?!?!?! OMG! Show of the year! Give them the Daytime Emmy for Best Show now. Yeah, I know that GH is often more General Mafia than General Hospital these days (okay, this last DECADE). But these episodes? The writing, the editing(THE EDITING!), the directing, the acting? Everything daytime should be (with the exception of love in the afternoon, which will hopefully return in this week's shows). I love November sweeps. *SIGH* ETA: JJ needs to grow a full beard, because he still looks 12 to me. He looks crazy as Lucky interrogating Jason. Jason could snap his neck like a chicken. mood: pleased |

What's up college football fans? It's that time again. Time to gloat or groan about your alma mater or favorite team's performances this weekend. Pretty good weekend for me as Delaware State edged soon-to-be-returning-to-DII Winston Salem State 24-21, moving their mark to 3-6 on the season and 3-4 in MEAC play. The Howard High School Wildcats also won, clobbering Thomas McKean High School 36-0 Friday night and moving their mark to 8-1. A win next week against Appoquinimik High School gives them a share of the Flight B title and a spot in the Delaware Division II State playoffs. So, how'd your teams do?
